The King and Queen conclude their working week with a trip to Rome, where they will participate in two events. Early in the morning, they will be received in audience by Pope Leo XIV, and afterwards, King Felipe will be installed as protocanon of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.For this special day, Queen Letizia has chosen to exercise her privilege of wearing white, a protocol rule according to which Catholic queens may appear before the Holy Father dressed in white, while all other women, crowned or not, must wear black.Very few women currently enjoy this privilege. In addition to Queen Letizia, the list includes Queen Sofía; Mathilde, Queen of the Belgians; Paola, Queen Mother of the Belgians; Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg; and Charlene of Monaco.
