Ferrari Luce: an electric car that could have been born in Silicon Valley
But perhaps even more impressive is the level of electronic sophistication. The Luce debuts a new central control unit that integrates all the car's management functions into a single brain: motors, battery, active suspension, energy recuperation, steering, and vehicle dynamics. Ferrari claims that the system is capable of modifying dynamic parameters up to 200 times per second. This allows, for example, individual management of torque to each wheel during acceleration, braking, or cornering. It also enables the creation of an extremely advanced regenerative braking system capable of absorbing up to 500 kW of energy during braking. Ferrari asserts that a high percentage of braking can be performed solely through energy recuperation. There are also solutions that are completely new to Ferrari, such as electric all-wheel drive, independent four-wheel steering, and active suspension capable of even recovering energy by harnessing the vertical movements of the body
