BYD enters the pickup segment with the Shark, a plug-in hybrid

The BYD Shark is certainly not lacking in power, featuring a system that combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors--one on each axle. Together, they deliver 436 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, despite its 2.7-tonne weight. However, many customers will likely be more interested in the performance of the 32.2 kWh battery, which allows for a range of up to 90 km without using a drop of gasoline. When the gasoline engine is used, the total range extends to 650 km (with a 60-liter tank).
