To minimize turbulence, the gap between the tire and the wheel arch is kept as tight as possible, and wheel deflectors (and covers) are used to prevent air from entering the wheels. The tires, specifically designed by Continental, offer 25% less resistance than the best tire currently available, rounding out a record-breaking aerodynamic package: the drag coefficient (Cd) is just 0.158--the lowest of any road-legal vehicle.
