In this area, the network of sensors, cameras, and radars monitoring the car and its surroundings--as well as the software managing them--has been improved. Volvo highlights that "if a potential collision is detected, the vehicle can respond in real time, alerting the driver or taking action." For instance, emergency steering assistance helps avoid hazards, emergency braking prevents or reduces collision risk, and the car can warn of an approaching cyclist to prevent the door from being opened on that side. Lane-change assistance integrated into the semi-autonomous driving system and 360-degree cameras with 3D view are other notable features of the new XC60, which will be available to order starting next month and will begin arriving at dealerships in the first quarter of 2027.
