Porsche gives a face to its new strategy with the Mission S
A new family above the 911
But what is truly significant about the Mission S is not just its design. Porsche has confirmed that it is working on a new platform for mid-engine supercars, designed to support a permanent family of vehicles positioned above the 911. This represents a significant departure from previous projects. Models such as the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder were exceptional cars, produced in limited runs and with relatively short commercial lifespans. The current objective is to establish a stable lineup at the very top of the brand's portfolio--one capable of evolving and being renewed over the years. The choice of a mid-engine architecture also distinguishes this project from the 911, whose signature configuration--with the engine positioned behind the rear axle--is one of its defining characteristics. The future supercar is not intended to replace the 911, but rather to occupy a higher tier in terms of performance, exclusivity, and price.
