¦koda Motorsport: 125 years of competition to understand 130 years of history
Skoda 1100 OHC (1957)
The starting point is almost poetic. The small Laurin and Klement BZ represents the very origin of racing for the Czech brand. That 331cc single-cylinder motorcycle reached 60 km/h, a remarkable figure for the early 20th century. But even more important was what it symbolized: racing as a technological showcase and as a way to demonstrate mechanical reliability. Decades later, some of the most remarkable cars in Czechoslovakian motoring history would arrive. One of the first major protagonists was the elegant ¦koda Popular Sport Coupé, known as the "Malá Dohoda." This coupé participated in the 1937 Little Entente Rally, a grueling international event in which it finished seventh overall and second in the team standings. In a Europe still marked by the pre-war era, such competitions presented enormous mechanical and human challenges.
