On this foundation, a new family of compact electric models is being built and will be launched this year. The ID. Polo, ID. Cross, ID.3 Neo, and the sporty GTI variants form an unprecedented offensive in terms of both volume and positioning. All of them will share the new MEB+ architecture, an evolution of the current electric platform, which will improve efficiency, reduce costs, and, above all, incorporate technologies typically found in higher segments. Regional Production But beyond the product itself, the change is also industrial and strategic. Volkswagen is committed to a regional production model. Given the current geopolitical situation, manufacturing must take place in Europe for Europe, in China for China, and in the Americas for that market. This decision is unavoidable in an increasingly fragmented global context, marked by trade tensions, divergent regulations, and transforming supply chains.
