The 10 most beautiful villages in Spain, worthy of an Oscar
Camaleño (Cantabria)
We now travel to the Picos de Europa. Nestled in the Liébana region, Camaleño is best known to travelers making the pilgrimage to Fuente Dé and visiting the magnificent Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana. Perhaps less well-known is its cultural activity--particularly regarding cinema--which includes film shoots, short films, and the "Rurales" festival, an event that bridges the gap between the world of film and rural life. And it is no wonder, given such a stunning natural backdrop. In fact, Mogrovejo--with its medieval tower and stone manor houses--served as the idyllic setting for the film *Heidi, Queen of the Mountains* (2016). As mentioned, it rivals the Swiss Alps. The valley and village of Espinama are also linked to the film *Habla, mudita* (1973), the directorial debut of Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón.
