Brooklyn Beckham shared a message on Tuesday via the social network Instagram, explaining his version of the family distancing. In his words, the young man states that he is speaking out after years of silence, indicating that his parents and their team have repeatedly resorted to the press to spread versions that, according to him, do not reflect the truth. He made public the family distancing days after the release of a legal letter aimed at protecting his mental health.

"I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life," the young man asserts. He has accused his parents of controlling the public narrative about the Beckham family and prioritising the family image and brand over personal relationships. This constant control was a source of anxiety for much of his life, noting that it began to fade once he considered distancing as an option.

Brooklyn detailed that the conflict intensified before his wedding to Nicola Peltz in April 2022. Among other accusations, he argues that his parents tried to sabotage his relationship by pressuring him to relinquish the rights to his name before the ceremony: "My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped. My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress" Brooklyn states.

The day of the wedding was one of the triggers for the current dramatic family situation: My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song.

'In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment"

In the final part of the letter, Brooklyn Beckham confesses that he seeks a life away from media pressure and focused on privacy, emotional stability, and well-being with his wife.
