Former FC Barcelona player Audie Norris, a historic figure in Barça's basketball and current club ambassador, has reported on his X account being a victim of an attempted robbery in Barcelona. The incident took place on Tuesday night, around 11:00 p.m., in the parking lot of Sants Station, one of the main transportation hubs in the city.
As Norris describes in a message, two individuals attempted to rob him. One of them sprayed the back of his jacket with a liquid, while the other approached under the pretext of helping him clean up. Their aim was to distract him in order to steal his belongings. However, the former player suspected the maneuver, managed to break free, quickly got into his vehicle, and left the scene without anything being stolen from him.
The American expressed concern about the lack of police presence or private security in the area at that time. "If they had a knife, it would have ended very badly," he lamented, emphasizing that not even someone of his physical stature feels safe walking around the city.
"Last night, at Sants station in Barcelona, I went to the parking lot to pick up the car and 2 men tried to mug me. First, they sprayed my jacket from behind, then another one came pretending to clean it. In reality, they wanted to rob me, I managed to escape, get into the car, lock it, and leave," Norris recounts.
"There was no police or security, it was 11 p.m. Where is the security in Barcelona? Not even a big and strong man like me can walk the streets calmly," adds the former player in a second message followed by a third where he shows the jacket stained by the thieves.
Currently, the Mossos d'Esquadra have no official record of the events, as no complaint has been filed.
