Three people were injured in a knife attack at the Porte de Clichy, in the northwest of Paris. The suspect, who reportedly carried two knives, was subdued by a Police officer at the entrance of the pastry shop Les deux coupoles. The incident occurred at 11:30 in the morning.
The Antiterrorist Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation, while the police cordoned off a wide area. In a video that circulated on social media and was reproduced by Le Figaro, the suspect could be seen, detained on the ground and apparently disoriented, muttering words like "Allah has ordered me to do it".
Two of the injured are in serious condition and were taken to a nearby hospital. The police cordon lasted for over two hours and led to the temporary closure of busy metro and tram stations at the Porte de Clichy.
According to Le Figaro, the suspect fits a profile of "unbalanced" and spent several minutes shouting and verbally attacking passersby before carrying out the attack.
