Courtney Meppen-Walter, one of the former promises of Manchester City who seemed to have a career in the Manchester team, has passed away at the age of 32. The English Bury announced it on social media, although the causes of his death are currently unknown.

The figure of the central defender is very controversial in the United Kingdom after City dismissed him for causing the death of two brothers in a traffic accident due to negligent driving. Both, originally from Afghanistan, arrived in the UK in 2001 after fleeing persecution by the Taliban. Two other individuals, aged 15 and 16, were seriously injured.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player Courtney Meppen-Walter at the age of 32. All of us at Bury FC extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during these difficult times."

At the time of the accident, Meppen-Walter was 18 years old and was released from prison after serving half of his sentence. Six years later, and involved in another vehicle incident, he was disqualified from driving after nearly tripling the legal alcohol limit.

After leaving Manchester City, he continued his career in clubs such as Carlisle United, Ashton United, Stockport County, Glossop North End, Chorley, AFC Telford United, Radcliffe, Guiseley, Nantwich Town, Bury, and Stalybridge Celtic.
