John Frieda, renowned UK stylist, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75. Among his most illustrious clients were the late Princess Diana of Wales, Madonna, Nicole Kidman, and Scarlett Johansson. The reasons for his death have not yet been disclosed.

The news was confirmed by the official Instagram account of the John Frieda salon: "It is with great sadness that we share the news of our beloved John's passing, who died peacefully... surrounded by his family," it posted alongside a black and white image of the stylist.

"John was more than a mentor to us; he was a true icon of the hairdressing industry. He taught us everything, believed in us, and made us better. His talent and passion touched countless people, and his legacy will live on in each of us. We will continue to honour him," the statement adds.

Frieda was born in London in 1951 and pursued styling influenced by his father, who was a hairdresser with a salon in Ealing, as well as by his grandfather, who was a barber. After working for his father, Frieda joined the London hair salon House of Leonard and became an assistant to Leonard Lewis. He later worked for the British editions of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar and created his own product line, Frizz-Ease, in 1988.

Cetera Lamb, creative director of Frieda's salon in London, also commented on Frieda's passing. "The industry has lost a true legend, a genuine maverick of hairdressing. For 50 years, he led our wonderful salon, leaving behind an incredible legacy of passion, creativity, vision, and exceptional hairdressing. We will continue to honour his memory, celebrating his achievements and keeping alive his memories, values, vision, and love for great hairdressing. His legacy will endure through us, and we will ensure that," she remarked.
