Mallorca kicks off the summer season of celebrity superyachts with a bang. Steven Spielberg's, the iconic and wealthy 78-year-old American film director.
A floating palace valued at 250 million euros. It boasts its own helipad, outdoor pool, cinema room, gym, and seven rooms for 14 guests with all kinds of exclusive luxuries. A crew of up to 35 people takes care of all the details.
The boat arrived from Barcelona (where it had been since April) and, after anchoring off the exclusive Puerto Portals quite a distance from the coast, on Thursday morning, it sailed along the paradisiacal north coast of the island. Navigating in front of Deià, in the area where actor Michael Douglas has his summer residence.
Although many impressive boats sail in Mallorca, this one does not go unnoticed. It is an imposing 109-meter yacht, with modern design and sophisticated lines, built by the Dutch shipyards Oceanco in 2023 and designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. It can sail at a speed of 20 knots.
The yacht is named Seven Seas, a name not as original as the creations of Hollywood's Midas king (E.T., Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, or Jaws, which now celebrates its 50th anniversary), and it is common to see it on the South coast of France, where Spielberg spent part of last summer. Before this new boat, Spielberg had another one with the same name, which he sold for 150 million euros to the Canadian millionaire Barry Zekelman.
The director had not arrived in Mallorca yesterday, although the excitement for his presence has been growing these days, as rumors spread that his yacht was on the island.
Just like magnate Jeff Bezos (Amazon) has done in recent summers with his super-schooner Koru (which he debuted in Balearic waters two summers ago), Spielberg could board his Seven Seas without setting foot on land, landing by private jet in Palma and then boarding with a helicopter jump to the deck of his superyacht.
The world's most famous director and producer first came into contact with the emerald waters of the Mallorcan Tramuntana in the 90s when he was a guest on the yacht of David Geffen. The producer and former Dreamworks partner is a regular visitor to the island. He usually sails aboard his yacht named Rising Sun.
Just last year, he had two famous guests on board: the Kardashians, Kendall and Kylie. The sisters shared their nautical excursions, their lunches by the sea, and their contortionist poses on board.
Although he is one of the most well-known faces, Spielberg is not the only magnate who has already sent his boat to Mallorca this year. Bezos or the creator of Facebook (now owner of Meta), Mark Zuckerberg, have also had their boats sailing around the island since spring.
