Harris Yulin dies at 88, the actor from Scarface and Ghostbusters II

Harris Yulin, the actor from Scarface and Ghostbusters II, has passed away at the age of 88 in New York City. Yulin's family and his manager Sue Leibman said in a statement that the actor died of a heart attack in New York City.

Yulin had roles in films such as Detective Mel Bernstein in Scarface (1983), Buddy in Ozark, and the unpleasant Judge Stephen Wexler, also known as The Hammer, in Ghostbusters II (1989), among other notable roles during a career that began in film and television in 1970 and amassed over 140 credits.

Mel Bernstein was a corrupt police officer in Miami, working for drug trafficker Frank Lopez, played by Robert Loggia, who tried to blackmail Tony Montana, portrayed by Al Pacino, as recalled by Milenio.

He also portrayed security advisor James Cutter in Clear and Present Danger, Wyatt Earp in Doc, Rubin Carter's lawyer in The Hurricane, Black Harry in Cutthroat Island, Agent Sterling in Rush Hour 2, and Detective Russell in Training Day, among other works.

The Los Angeles-born actor received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of a mafia boss in Frasier.
