The last time Nicole Kidman (58) and Keith Urban (57) were photographed together was at the FIFA Club World Cup match held on June 20 in Nashville, just a few kilometers from their home. Five days later, the Oscar winner for The Hours (2003) posted a black and white picture on Instagram embracing her husband with the caption "Happy anniversary, darling," marking their 19th wedding anniversary.

However, for anyone paying close attention, the fact that the singer did not respond in the same affectionate way to such a message should have probably been a warning sign. He simply replied with a heart emoji.

On May 8, they attended the 60th edition of the Academy of Country Music Awards where Urban received the ACM Triple Crown Award. In his acceptance speech, he addressed his wife: "Nicole Mary is here tonight. I love you, baby!"

Upon returning home, they got into a limousine where they took a fun snapshot with Keith holding his award and a radiant Nicole in the background with her mouth open making the "V" sign with one of her hands.

According to Daily Mail, the actress did not anticipate this abrupt ending. In recent months, she has been filming in EnglandPractical Magic 2 with Sandra Bullock (61), while he has been focused on his tour. They have had very little time together.

Another indication that Kidman was unaware of her husband's decision to separate is the fact that at the end of last week at an event in Los Angeles with the press, she proudly showed off her impressive diamond engagement ring.

It is also noteworthy that in December of last year, the Australian actress, although born in Hawaii, told People magazine that she loved when her husband surprised her on a date. "I like being asked out, and he still does it. Seven nights ago, we went out to dinner in New York. We love Japanese food, but I'm open to anything. I like not knowing where he's going to take me. Surprise me, darling!"

Currently, as reported by People and TMZ, Keith Urban has retreated to his Nashville home while Nicole is in Los Angeles surrounded by her daughters and with the invaluable support of her younger sister, Antonia.

20 years have passed since Nicole and Keith's lives first crossed paths. It happened in January 2005 at the G'Day LA gala, a social event honoring Australians in the entertainment industry, where they were introduced by actor Geoffrey Rush. That night, they exchanged phone numbers, but the musician took four months to call the star of Babygirl (2024). As he told Ellen DeGeneres on her show in 2017: "I was crazy about him, and he wasn't interested in me!" According to Keith, he didn't feel confident enough to make the move.

After that call, they began to see each other privately, although the media already suspected that something was brewing. However, it wasn't until February 2006 that Nicole and Keith made their public debut as a couple at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, they did not walk the red carpet together, but the audience was thrilled.

Just over a month after announcing their engagement, the actress and the singer tied the knot at the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel at St. Patrick's Estate in Manly, Australia. Naturally, some of the biggest names in the Australian media attended the wedding, such as Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts, Rupert Murdoch, and Russell Crowe.

The beginning of their marriage was not without problems, as Keith Urban struggled with alcohol and drug addiction. Therefore, four months after the wedding, he issued a statement admitting, "I deeply regret the pain this has caused Nicole and those who love and support me. With the strength and unwavering support I have, the blessing of having my wife, family, and friends, I am determined and committed to a positive outcome" and checked into the Betty Ford Clinic, whose first well-known patients in the 80s were Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minnelli.

The peak of the couple's happiness was the arrival of their two daughters, Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret, who is about to turn 15.
