Today, at 60 years old, Brooke Shields proudly shows that she did not become a broken toy, that she graduated in romance languages from the elite Princeton University, and wrote a thesis on Louis Malle.
This director directed her in her first American film titled Pretty Baby (1978) in which Shields is prostituted by her mother. With that role, she made a name for herself in the industry. Although it was difficult for her to shake off the sexualization of her characters, she was able to rebuild her emotional life while taking care of her alcoholic mother.
After several romances and special friendships with Matt Dillon, Michael Jackson, or Dodi Al Fayed, the actress married tennis player André Agassi in 1997, from whom she divorced two years later. In 2001, the star married producer and writer Chris Henchy, with whom she has formed a solid marriage from which their two daughters, Rowan (22) and Grier (19), were born.
Several media outlets like Page Six and Daily Mail have reported on the inclusion of Grier for the second season of the reality show Next Gen NYC, which will air on Bravo, following the adventures of other nepo babies like Kim Zolciak and Teresa Giudice -completely unknown in our country- in the social circles of the Big Apple.
Page Six specifies that a few days ago they captured Brooke Shields' eldest daughter while filming a scene at a party for Holiday Nights, organized by the fashion, decoration, and lifestyle retailer Urban Outfitters. Last May, Grier graduated in television journalism from the private Wake Forest University where her parents showed their pride.
Mother and daughter are so closely bonded that they even share tattoos, clothes, and makeup. They are best friends and confidantes. That's why Shields found it extremely difficult for her daughter to emancipate, as she mentioned on the TV show People: "I will never get used to her leaving. She is going to get married and have her own children, and I still won't get used to it." Their passion for fashion unites them to the point that the star of Suddenly Susan (1996-2020) has even lent her some of her dresses for special occasions.
For example, for her graduation she wore the actress's first wedding dress after making the necessary adjustments, and for prom night she chose a red design that Brooke wore at the Golden Globes in 1998.
Naturally, Brooke Shields loves to show off her daughters, so it's not surprising that she has posed with them on the red carpets since they were young. But as they have grown, Rowan and Grier have become more selective. The eldest daughter enjoyed the White House Correspondents' Dinner and the Glamour Women of the Year awards several years ago.
The Henchy-Shields family lives in a spacious house in southern Manhattan and when they want to unwind, they retreat to their Hamptons getaway, the paradise where the wealthiest New Yorkers go.
