Updated

When Pierce Brosnan (72) became an international star thanks to the series Remington Steele, he was happily married to Cassandra Harris, with whom he had his son Sean and had adopted the two children the actress had from a previous marriage, Christopher (52) and Charlotte

Unfortunately, in 1991, the former 007 agent became a widower after his wife's death at 43 years old due to ovarian cancer, the same disease that also took Charlotte's life in 2013 at the age of 41. This family tragedy took a toll on everyone, especially on Christopher.

At just 19 years old, he was orphaned by his mother, a situation so difficult to cope with that he found solace in drugs. Cocaine and heroin became his best companions. Brosnan has always cherished his children and tried everything to maintain family balance, but it was in vain.

The actor stood by Christopher for years, supporting and protecting him, arranging appointments with the best specialists and rehabilitation clinics, but the attempts were unsuccessful. So, there came a point where Pierce had to cut ties with his son because he refused help. He did not want the sad situation to affect his new family relationship.

In 2001, Brosnan married journalist Keely Shaye Smith (62) after seven years of relationship, with whom he had two more children, Dylan (28) and Paris (24). In the interviews they used to give, Brosnan would often appear with all his offspring to whom he always dedicated loving words. Until everything changed in 2005. With a heavy heart, the Irish star cut ties with Christopher.

Twenty years later, father and son have been photographed together again. The newspaper The Mirror exclusively showcased a heartwarming story of Pierce and Christopher's reunion along with another of the protagonist of The Fourth Protocol (1987), Dylan. Last week, they visited the renowned London restaurant Dorian in Notting Hill where the three had an incredible evening. They were casually dressed warmly due to the low temperatures in the English capital.

An anonymous source highlighted to the media that "they both looked happy and relaxed as they sat with one of Brosnan's other sons, Dylan. The problems of Pierce and Christopher have been well documented. But it seems they have managed to leave them behind. It was very nice to see them together."

As reported by various media outlets, Christopher's past is linked to various legal issues due to his addiction. For example, in 1996 he was fined over 1,000 euros for driving under the influence and the following year, he was jailed for three months for the same reason. The worst moment came when in 2002 he almost died from an overdose, leading to his admission to a rehabilitation clinic at a cost of around 550 euros per day.

When he was arrested in 2005 for heroin possession in Brixton (England), his father decided once and for all to cut off contact with him.

Sources close to the former James Bond's circle assure that the actor is very happy about this reunion and hope it can be repeated in the future because his greatest desire is to have a happy and united family.

Christopher is also linked to the entertainment industry, as after studying film at UCLA and the New York Film Academy, he was involved in the production team of several films of his father such as Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), and The World Is Not Enough (1999).

In an interview with Playboy shortly after their breakup in 2005, Pierce Brosnan said: "Christopher is still very lost. Incredibly lost. I know where he is, but he is having a tough life. All I can do is have a lot of faith and believe that he will recover. He has tested everyone in this family, but no one more than himself. He knows how to get out of there. He doesn't want to. It's painful because it makes you shut down."

Despite everything, Brosnan has always kept the black sheep of the family in mind, as he shared on his Instagram account for Father's Day 2022.
