The murder of director Rob Reiner and his wife has brought to light one of his best movies, The Princess Bride (1989), whose plot begins when a grandfather reads a story to his sick grandson in bed. That child is Fred Savage (49), who was becoming a big star thanks to the series The Wonder Years (1988-1993)

The murder of director Rob Reiner and his wife has brought to light one of his best movies, The Princess Bride (1989), whose plot begins when a grandfather reads a story to his sick grandson in bed. That child is Fred Savage (49), who was becoming a big star thanks to the series The Wonder Years (1988-1993).

For his role as Kevin Arnold, he became the youngest actor ever to be nominated for an Emmy Award at just 12 years old. That series, which became one of the major social references worldwide, had a sequel with The Wonder Years '90s, in which Savage also participated, and which Netflix canceled after two seasons at the end of 2024. Two years earlier, Fred Savage had been abruptly fired according to Variety for inappropriate behavior.

This was not the first time the actor had issues on a set, as in 1993 a costume designer accused him of sexual harassment, and 15 years later another person linked to the costume team confessed that Fred had created "an extremely hostile work environment" with an intimidating and aggressive attitude.

With all that came his way, the American actor sent a statement to The Hollywood Reporter where he stated: "Since I was 6 years old, I have worked on hundreds of sets with thousands of people and have always sought to contribute to an inclusive, safe, and supportive work environment (...) It is devastating to know that there are colleagues who feel that I have not achieved these goals." He added that he would work "to address and change any behavior that has negatively affected anyone."

After finishing filming The Wonder Years, he took advantage of the downturn in his career to graduate in English from Stanford University in 1999. That same year, the actor reconnected with his childhood friend Jennifer Lynn at his birthday party in Los Angeles, where they shared their first kiss. After a five-year courtship, they married in 2004 and have three children, Oliver (19), Lily (17), and Auggie (13).

In 2025, the actor has revealed his main business endeavor. Three years ago, he founded Timepiece Grading Specialists (TGS) in Dayton, Ohio, United States, a company specializing in authentication and valuation of luxury watches following a conflict that arose when he bought one of those pieces at a prestigious auction house. It was then that he discovered that, unlike collectors of baseball cards, coins, or comics, watches did not have an entity that provided authentication services.

Thanks to a fortune estimated at 30 million dollars by Celebrity Net Worth, the renowned actor has invested a large amount of money in watches, including a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and a Rolex Datejust.

As he revealed to The New York Times, "the watch collection started as a hobby because I was very interested in those mechanical objects that still worked and looked so good a hundred years after their manufacture," and he added that "the more I got into watches, the more my knowledge increased."

The actor has also been very savvy in terms of real estate, as in 2000 he paid three million dollars for a mansion in Hancock Park - the same neighborhood where Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas lived - which he later sold for five million. He also sold for 2.2 million dollars a house in Hollywood, invested in a two-bedroom apartment in Hollywood, and in 2019, he spent 9.5 million dollars on a mansion of almost 800 square meters in the upscale area of Bel Air in Los Angeles.
