Julio Iglesias has released a statement on his social media defending himself against the accusations made by two former employees who claim that the singer sexually assaulted them and subjected them to degrading treatment during their time at his home.
"With deep regret, I respond to the accusations made by two individuals who previously worked in my home. I deny having abused, coerced, or disrespected any woman. Those accusations are absolutely false and cause me great sadness," the singer states in the statement on his Instagram account.
"I had never felt such malice, but I still have the strength to make people know the whole truth and defend my dignity against such a serious offense," continues Julio Iglesias' statement, who has hired lawyer José Antonio Choclán.
"I cannot forget so many beloved people who have sent me messages of affection and loyalty; I have found great comfort in them," concludes the statement of the 82-year-old artist.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of the National Court has opened an investigation into possible sexual assault crimes committed by the singer against a domestic employee and a physiotherapist while they worked at his Caribbean mansions, whose accounts were disclosed following an investigation by elDiario.es in collaboration with Univisión Noticias.
The Public Ministry reported that on January 5, it received a complaint related to these events and decided to initiate an investigation.
These former employees claimed to have suffered touching, insults, and humiliations during their workday in an environment of control and continuous harassment.
