The race towards the Oscars has already begun. On the morning of January 22nd, Los Angeles time, actors Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks were the ones in charge of officially announcing the nominees in the different categories for the golden statuette. While she was nominated for Best Actress in the musical The Color Purple (2024), he has been grabbing attention as one of the new heartthrobs of Hollywood, seen in Top Gun: Maverick.
Lewis is the youngest of the three children of actor Bill Pullman (72) and dancer Tamara Hurwitz. The other two are Maesa (38) and Jack (37). In an interview with Interview magazine, Lewis recalls that "we rarely went out to restaurants when I was a child. It was always my mother who made dinner. But when we did, someone would come up."
He mentions that at that time, it was puzzling to him that many strangers would approach to greet his father because he didn't understand why he was so important. "I think one thing that all my siblings and I have a pretty good radar for are hidden motives. Even as a child, you could pick up on something like: 'Why does someone want this from my father? Why do people expect this from him and where does that come from?," he told Interview magazine.
His parents were clear that their children had to grow up away from the industry to have a somewhat normal education. "There was always an element of mystery behind his career. We were a very creative family, everyone is in the arts to some extent, but we were not allowed to watch TV," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite appearing in several short films during his adolescence, Lewis chose to prioritize his studies and graduated in 2015 with a degree in Social Work from Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. Two years later, he made his debut in The Ballad of Lefty Brown (2017) alongside his father.
Breaking free from Bill Pullman's long shadow has been more challenging than he thought, but he is gradually making a name for himself in the industry on his own merits. To date, he has been nominated for an Emmy, the Critics' Choice Movie Award, and the Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actor in the miniseries Cooking with Chemistry (2023).
When not acting, Lewis Pullman is an avid drummer playing in the indie band Atta Boy, with vocalist Eden Brolin (32), known for Yellowstone and daughter of Josh Brolin (57) and granddaughter of James Brolin (85), who has been married to Barbra Streisand (83) for over twenty-five years. He also enjoys oil painting on canvas as a distraction from the hustle and bustle of filming.
In matters of love, the first to capture his heart was actress Rainey Qualley (36), daughter of actress and former model Andy MacDowell (67), with whom he started dating in September 2020 until August 2023. In early 2025, he began to be linked with Kaia Gerber (24), the youngest daughter of Cindy Crawford (59), as they both celebrated the actor's birthday.
A source told People magazine that "they have been spending time together in recent weeks. They are a cute and very discreet couple." However, neither of them has confirmed the relationship, and every time Lewis is asked, he avoids the question to preserve his privacy.
Subsequently, Lewis and Kaia were photographed attending Broadway to see the play The Picture of Dorian Gray, starring Sarah Snook (38) from Succession. Once again, an eyewitness told Page Six that "they are definitely together. Kaia sat with her head resting on Lewis's shoulder throughout the performance."
