Who is Stella? Jennifer Grey's 24-year-old daughter kept out of the spotlight — and not a fan of Dirty Dancing.

She grew up away from the Hollywood spotlight, but decided to become an actress. Stella Frances Gregg (24), the only daughter of actors Jennifer Grey (65) and Clark Gregg (63), aims to make a name for herself based on her own merits and not just for being a nepo baby

The young woman is eager to see how the sequel of one of the biggest cultural phenomena in cinema, Dirty Dancing, unfolds, where Jennifer played the unforgettable Baby alongside Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle. Unfortunately, the actor passed away in 2009 at the age of 57 due to pancreatic cancer. No one can replace Swayze.

Interestingly, the young woman did not like the film. As Jennifer mentioned in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "I think she only saw it once and didn't want to watch it again. She didn't want to see me dance with anyone other than her dad, and that bothered her."

Stella was born in December 2001, less than five months after her parents' wedding on the coast of Martha's Vineyard, the island off the east coast of the United States that is a symbol of the elite of the ultra-rich from New York since Jackie Kennedy bought a vast property there.

While attending school, she became interested in acting, so she started participating in community theater productions such as West Side Story or Into the Woods. Surprisingly, at the age of 15, she dared to write and direct a play that was selected to participate in the Young Playwriters in Action Festival. To further expand her academic and artistic knowledge, she enrolled in prestigious acting schools like The Groundlings Theatre of Second City Improv and the Joffrey Ballet dance school. As she has stated in some interviews, "I am very perfectionist," so Stella always aims to give her best.

Her first significant works were done alongside her father in the movie Trust Me (2013) and the series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013). Stella landed her first leading role in 2024 when she starred in the TV thriller He Slid Into Her DM's, where Courtney Thorne-Smith (58) - one of the stars of Melrose Place - plays her mother.

In an interview on the podcast Pop Culture with Pat, the actress talked about what her parents told her when she decided to pursue her own path: "They constantly reminded me that people would think I had made it because of my lineage and, yes, that makes sense, but that also means you have to prove that you take it seriously and that this is a job and an art form. That is the most important thing and what matters in the end, to respect and honor it as it deserves because it is an art."

To help Stella understand her place in life a little more, Jennifer Grey published Out of the Corner: A Memoir (2022) because "I wanted her to know what I went through before she was born, because most children do not know what it was like for their parents when they were struggling, when they went out together, when they were broken, when they were betrayed, when they couldn't make a living, when no one thought they would make it, and believed they never would," she admitted to Entertainment Weekly. She added: "That was really the reason I wrote the book, because I wanted her to have a kind of user manual about her origins."

Mother and daughter are so close that they even share a tattoo. Both got "beaux rêves" (sweet dreams) tattooed, Jennifer on her shoulder and Stella on her forearm. She also has a very special bond with her father, who takes to Instagram to congratulate her on her achievements and anniversaries.

After 19 years of marriage, Clark Gregg, known for The Avengers, filed for divorce in 2020. The split was amicable.
