More than a month after being found dead at the age of 34 in a San Francisco hotel room on New Year's Day, new details about the death of Tommy Lee Jones' daughter have been revealed.
Victoria Jones received assistance from emergency services shortly before 3:00 am on January 1st. During the 911 call, paramedics classified the situation as a "code three" for overdose.
When they arrived at the scene, they "conducted an assessment" and attempted to revive her, but they were unable to save her. This Tuesday, the San Francisco Chief Medical Examiner's Office has provided further information on the case and confirmed that the cause of death was the toxic effects of cocaine, also determining that it was "an accidental overdose".
Victoria, the daughter of the Hollywood actor and his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley, went through difficult times in recent years. In August 2023, her father requested temporary guardianship of the young woman from a California court, who was then hospitalized in a psychiatric facility. In December of that same year, the actor requested the end of said guardianship.
As reported by People magazine, Victoria was arrested twice in 2025: in April, for being under the influence of a substance without a prescription, and in June, for a minor domestic violence offense. In both cases, she pleaded not guilty.
After her passing, her family requested respect for their daughter. "We appreciate all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during these difficult times. Thank you."
Victoria had her own professional journey but almost always alongside her father. She made her big-screen debut in Men in Black II (2002), alongside her father. She later appeared in One Tree Hill (2003) and in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, a film directed by Tommy Lee Jones in which her stepmother, Dawn Laurel-Jones, also collaborated as a photographer.
During the promotion of The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, the actor praised his daughter's talent: "She is a good actress, she has her Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card and speaks impeccable Spanish." He also recalled that it was thanks to her: "When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nanny, to speak to her in Spanish."
Victoria stayed away from the spotlight, except for some appearances on the red carpet with her father. In 2017, both smiled for the photos - with his current wife, Dawn Laurel-Jones - at the premiere of Just Getting Started in Los Angeles.
