Actor Martin Short's daughter, Katherine, has passed away at the age of 42, as reported by TMZ. "With deep sorrow, we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss and requests privacy at this time. Katherine was loved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world."
Los Angeles police and the fire department responded to her home in Hollywood Hills on Monday, where she was found lifeless. According to the report, she took her own life.
Katherine —the daughter of Short and Nancy Dolman, his wife of 30 years who passed away in 2010 due to ovarian cancer— worked as a social worker in Los Angeles after earning her bachelor's degree from New York University (NYU) and, years later, her master's in social work from the University of Southern California (USC).
Katherine was involved in a charity organization called Bring Change 2 Mind, which works to break down stigmas related to mental health issues.
Actor Martin Short (75) lost his wife, Nancy Dolman, in 2010 after a long battle with cancer and almost three decades of marriage and three children: Katherine, 42, Oliver, 39, and Henry, 36. He is known for his roles in comedies such as 'Father of the Bride' and, more recently, the successful series 'Only Murders in the Building'.
