At the latest 2026 Oscars gala, actress Gwyneth Paltrow went viral due to a small 'mishap' with her dress on the red carpet, although it was more an effect of the design itself than an actual flaw.
Paltrow arrived wearing a seemingly very minimalist dress, in ivory silk and strapless. However, the design featured extremely high side openings that ran almost the entire length of the dress's side.
When she walked or posed sideways, those openings revealed a large part of her hip and even part of her buttocks, leading to awkward moments and many viral photos on social media.
Additionally, she wore translucent shiny pants or tights underneath, visible through those openings, accentuating the unexpected effect of the design.
From the front, the dress looked classic and elegant, but from the side, it revealed much more than expected, causing the 'slip-up' everyone talked about.
The outfit was a custom design by Giorgio Armani Privé, the haute couture line of the Italian house founded by Giorgio Armani.
