In addition to the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump (79), at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, there is another topic that has sparked a debate on social media focusing on a specific woman.
At this event considered one of the most exclusive gatherings in Washington, women are subject to intense public scrutiny to see who dresses better and, above all, how much they have spent on the most exclusive designers.
And this is where the name Jennifer Rauchet (41), the third wife of Pete Hegseth (45), Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration, comes up because, according to several media outlets, including Daily Mail, Rauchet allegedly wore a $42 dress available on the Shein website.
In this media debate, while some argue that wearing a fast fashion garment made in China contradicts Hegseth's "America First" message, labeling him as a hypocrite, others applaud this decision.
But regardless of this debate, who is Jennifer Rauchet? A journalism graduate from Towson University in Maryland, she started working as a producer at Fox News, a Republican flagship, in 2006. She was on the Watters' World program and later on Fox & Friends Weekend, which Hegseth hosted. This is how they met and how they began to get close despite both being married.
According to Brian Stelter, author of the book Hoax, Jennifer started favoring Pete with more screen time at the expense of others, which helped spread the MAGA movement.
As reported by The New Yorker, Hegseth and Rauchet were lovers while he was still married to Samantha Deering, whom he eventually divorced when he found out that he had a daughter with the producer named Gwendolyn in 2017. Two years later, they married at Trump's golf club in New Jersey.
They both have a large family, as each brought three children from their previous relationships into the marriage.
On more than one occasion, Pete Hegseth has referred to Jennifer as his main support, consulting with her on national interest matters and even taking her to high-level meetings at the Pentagon. This has led to numerous criticisms and reproaches.
Very little else is known about Rauchet, who has chosen to remain discreetly in the background and therefore left her production role at the TV network. What she has publicly stated is that she believes in her husband and supports him in all his decisions.
