Successful, wealthy, and a pop icon, Kylie Minogue (57) has achieved almost everything in music. However, she has not been lucky in love, if luck is understood as a sufficiently lasting relationship.

The singer of Can't Get You Out of My Head will premiere her homonymous documentary on Netflix this Wednesday, May 20, as a pre-gift to her 40th anniversary as a singer.

Although she became known thanks to the Australian 80s soap opera Neighbours, she also began to try her luck in the music world alongside her love interest in fiction and reality, Jason Donovan, with whom she was from 1986 to 1989 and whose fame plummeted due to his drug addiction.

With more than 85 million records sold, the pop diva also became one of the favorite characters of the tabloids and the gossip press due to her love history. In total, there are 10 great loves that have marked the artist, but as she recently confessed, only one is the one she has engraved in her heart because of how intense it was emotionally.

It is Michael Hutchence, INXS vocalist, with whom she dated from 1989 to 1991. "I have had different relationships that have shaped me, but like Michael, none," Minogue reveals in the mentioned documentary. She confesses that since they broke up, she has been looking for someone similar, but "I have not fully achieved it. It was definitely an incredible moment, and probably I have been looking for something like that since then and I don't have it."

Theirs was a truly religious experience. When they started, she was 21 and he was 29. Kylie attended an INXS concert while still with Donovan, then they met backstage, and the first thing Michael said to her was "I don't know what we should do first, have dinner or have sex." It didn't happen right away, but shortly after, the singer had already broken up with Jason and started dating Michael.

"I could tell that something was wrong. It was noticeable. I could smell it," Donovan reveals in the documentary. At that time, the actress had just left the series and was on her way to becoming a major musical figure, while he was already a star. She began to be considered "the princess of pop," and he, "the bad boy of rock."

Hutchence was so captivated by her beauty that he co-wrote the song Suicide Blonde with his guitarist Andrew Farriss. Perhaps, somewhat prophetic.

During their relationship, Kylie experienced the wildest side of rock & roll, although she did not descend into hell. It scared her, but she felt protected by her boyfriend at all times. A boyfriend who, by the way, taught her almost everything there was to learn about sex.

The breakup left the singer devastated. To heal her wounds, she chose to travel. "I didn't know where to go or what to do. I knew I didn't want to be in London or Australia, so I went to Paris," she says in the documentary. "I remember having a small English-to-French dictionary. I didn't know anyone, but I had two numbers on a piece of paper. One of them was a friend of a friend of a friend of mine (...) I lived with a girl named Kat. I moved into her apartment, bought a sleeping bag and slept on the couch. I felt shattered."

When Michael took his own life in 1997, Kylie felt empty. "People wonder why I still get so emotional - she states in the documentary - but it's for many reasons. One of them is that he was one of my first big steps into adulthood, into a broader world. A world of possibilities and discoveries. Travel, literature, excess, connections, art, artistic expression, performance (...) I was the perfect age for that moment."

Two of the artist's most well-known relationships have been with actor Olivier Martinez and Andrés Velencoso, with whom it was said she had bought a house in the model's hometown, in Tossa de Mar (Girona).

Despite being a character that has sparked much interest in the realm of romance, Kylie has continued to preserve a part of her private life. In this documentary, something unheard of happens, as she has given permission for her parents, Carol and Ronald, and her siblings Dannii - also a prominent figure in music and as a talent show judge - and Brendan, about whom little is known, to speak about her.
