Actor Kevin Spacey acknowledged that "he was fiercely in the closet" and did not want anyone to know he was gay: "There were many stories about me. There was a lot of talk that I was gay and I just hadn't come out of the closet, and instead of the gay community understanding that... I always felt like I was being attacked".
In a recent interview with Bill Maher on the Club Random podcast, Spacey responded that he was not any "shy maiden": "I flirted with many men. I didn't want anyone to know anything about me and, of course, I thought I was so clever that no one knew. There are certain cases where a part of something is true, but it has been reshaped, redesigned, or completely invented; it is certainly the case with Anthony Rapp, which is a case that we won in a federal court in New York".
Aside from his sexual orientation, he was also asked about all his scandals, where he did not deny that he had many problems: "I never said there was no fire. Just that it wasn't a devastating forest fire. It was a small kitchen fire that could have been put out with a fire extinguisher," he replied.
Given this, we know that the actor is as enigmatic as he is scandalous and has been in the media spotlight in recent years due to various issues. In 2023, he was acquitted of nine charges, including sexual assault, related to four men between 2001 and 2013. He was also found not liable in the lawsuit filed by actor Anthony Rapp, who alleged that he abused him when he was only 14 years old. Not only that, but Spacey also reached a settlement with three men who accused him of the same.
