Seventeen-year-old South Korean Park Geon-roung, who captured the hearts of millions worldwide at the age of seven co-starring in the children's video of 'Baby Shark', has taken a radical turn in his artistic career. Returning to the music scene as a K-pop soloist under the stage name Baby Shark Boy, he has officially debuted with his first digital single titled 'Wave' ('WAVE')

The dynamic electropop track with trap elements starts with the iconic "doo doo doo" melody before transitioning into a danceable rhythm. The song was produced by The Pinkfong Company, which also plans to release a documentary about the teenager's intense preparation.

This new project features a special collaboration with Joohoney, a member of the famous K-pop group Monsta X, and Park's active involvement in writing the lyrics. Park expressed his surprise at still being remembered for something he did for fun as a child almost ten years later, stating, "It still feels surreal that something I recorded for fun as a kid is still remembered by so many people worldwide." For Park, this step marks the beginning of a serious career in one of the world's most demanding and competitive music industries.

"Baby Shark Dance feels like the first wave that started 10 years ago," explained the singer when reflecting on his personal and artistic evolution. This release coincides with the ongoing success of the 'Baby Shark' brand. The original 'Baby Shark Dance' video, filmed in 2016 with a simple and energetic choreography, is the most-viewed video in YouTube history, having remained at the top of the platform for 69 consecutive months, accumulating over 17 billion views in 25 different languages.

Additionally, the song recently made history by surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify, becoming the first children's song to achieve this milestone on the streaming platform. Despite the early success, Park shares that growing up as the "Baby Shark kid" was not a burden, as his classmates treated him normally in his everyday school life. Now, the teenager approaches his new role with maturity, aiming to showcase his true vocal identity, as the original song from his childhood was performed by another artist. His goal with this digital debut is clear: "I would like to show people that the little boy they remember has become someone with his own voice and stories to tell."
