After more than two decades living in one of the most spectacular mansions in Malibu, Pierce Brosnan (73) and Keely Shaye (62) have decided to part ways with this paradise. Following the devastating consequences of the fire that ravaged California in January of last year and the damage caused by the ocean to the beachfront mansions, the Irishman told The Times that "we have escaped the fires several times. But I think it's time to move. Everything changes; everything crumbles" and added that "we live next to this mass of terrestrial water, it's a fault within a seismic ring. That generates fear."

A year before his marriage to Keely they bought two plots of land in 2000 for $7.5 million and after hiring one of the best professional teams, they built the Thai-inspired mansion of their dreams. After filming 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997), the star was impressed by the residential architecture of the Asian country.
It took ten years for everything to be ready, and the result has been excellence. Named Orchid House, the main residence has just over 1,100 square meters with 35 meters of beachfront. Of the 4 bedrooms, the most impressive is the couple's suite, located on the upper floor, with two walk-in closets, two separate bathrooms, two fireplaces, a private art studio, and a large terrace facing the Pacific.
The main entrance impresses with its hand-carved teak wood doors specially brought from Thailand, and the gabled roof is made of green clay tiles with a custom glaze inspired by traditional Thai temples.
The living room is exceptionally large with floor-to-ceiling glass doors offering fabulous views of the horizon, noble wood floors, white furniture with golden hardware, a large fireplace, and noble wood floors. The dining room also has generous dimensions with wide Brazilian teak plank floors and clean lines with a fusion of French and chinoiserie styles. In other parts of the house, there is a cinema room with a bar and tiered seating, a complete gym with a steam bath, sauna, Japanese tub, and cold plunge pool.
Regardless of the architectural design, the exterior is entirely tropical. The mansion is surrounded by palm trees and fragrant tropical flowers like gardenias and plumerias that bring warmth to the area. Among the vegetation, there is a saltwater pool located in front of a double-height guest house and an outdoor dining area with plush sofas, a barbecue, and windbreak screens for peaceful evenings.
In addition to direct beach access, Orchid House features sustainable technology such as solar panels and a water recycling plant.
Furthermore, the Brosnans own another spectacular residence at the foot of Mount Makana on the north coast of Kauai (Hawaii), where Keely is originally from. It spans just over 1,100 square meters spread across several buildings on a two-hectare plot where the focus is on integration with nature and a simple life that has nothing to do with the extravagance of Los Angeles. The great luxury is direct access to a private beach accessed through a lush palm grove.
