Gerber died at a rehabilitation center, according to online records from the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
The death was confirmed by Allie Jenkins, a representative for Crawford and Rande Gerber, who married in 1998.
"The family asks for privacy during this very difficult and painful time," Jenkins stated in an email Sunday night.
Gerber followed in his mother's footsteps in the fashion industry and began his modeling career at age 15. He was the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber.
