The reason? The Peruvian - who, between 2021 and 2023, had a romantic relationship with Maxi Iglesias - seems to have wanted to dive headfirst into the debate about the music consumed by young people and, quite suddenly, ended up taking a dig at none other than Rosalía. One of the artists with the greatest international projection.
It all happened on Saturday when the Lima native posted a video of a French influencer - known as @eleganciaconmaeva - in which the content creator comments that the music of Sanz, Julio Iglesias, and Plácido Domingo seems "elegant" to her, while that of other Spaniards - like Quevedo, the rapper Morad, and the Motomami - seems "vulgar".
Furthermore, she goes on to point out that Berghain - the single by the Catalan with Björk and the American Yves Tumor - seems "vulgar" to her. An opinion that Cayo seems to share. In fact, she has posted the reel on her stories accompanied by a quite explicit phrase: "watch this. What are we allowing with the younger ones?".
But it didn't stop there. Subsequently, the actress has written an extensive text questioning certain music genres and the influence they can have on a certain sector of the population. "The big question is 'what are we allowing to enter the minds of the young people?'", she began.
"If we are made of emotions that awaken with the words we hear, with the melodies that embrace us or press us, we should ask ourselves if all that they consume helps them to better understand life and build themselves, or if it is doing exactly the opposite. If their judgment is being formed from bad taste, just because something is catchy. If what they see and hear invites them to think, to feel, to question, or simply to repeat," she mentioned.
"What are we allowing to happen with the young people? I still don't understand it with the clarity that these times demand: times of war, of little empathy, of vanity and emptiness. So much emptiness. A lot of noise and little substance. Little effort, little value. Many pretty girls, but foolish. Many strong boys, but empty inside. Without values or tools to first respect nature and then a woman, a partner, the other," she stated.
"They step on the one next to them to move forward. They don't understand teamwork. They don't understand that growing shouldn't mean crushing anyone. Everything is bought easily and everything ends with a button," she pointed out. Something that has caused surprise among many of her followers, as it seems that the actress is criticizing precisely the lack of respect and empathy... after referring to certain women as "pretty girls, but foolish" and sharing a video in which one of Spain's biggest stars is labeled as "vulgar."
Despite this, some of Cayo's fans have defended her on social media, stating that her post doesn't necessarily have to do with the Barcelona native (or with Quevedo or Morad), but with a situation that has occurred in her home country and has caused a strong commotion in recent days, as well as an intense debate about the behavior of teenagers, education, and the values being transmitted.
