Tobey Maguire (51) has had an unusual role in the new romantic life of Jennifer Meyer. The actor, known for playing the first Spider-Man in the movies, officiated the wedding of the jewelry designer to Geoffrey Ogunlesi, a 34-year-old music executive.
The ceremony, held last Saturday in Hawaii, comes just a few weeks after Maguire and Meyer legally ended their marriage. Far from becoming an awkward situation, the wedding has served to demonstrate the good harmony they maintain.
The celebration took place at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, one of the most exclusive resorts in Hawaii. As reported by People, he actively participated in the ceremony, dressed in a black suit, while the newlyweds exchanged vows. Photos from the event show him sharing smiles with the newlyweds, in a rare scene even among the most well-known Hollywood couples.
The story between Maguire and Meyer began over two decades ago. They met in 2003 and had their own wedding in Hawaii in 2007. Nine years later, they announced their separation, although the designer did not file for divorce until 2020. The process officially concluded on September 21.
During this time, they have managed to maintain a cordial relationship and a shared family dynamic for the well-being of their two children, Ruby, 19, and Otis, 17. Meyer has spoken on several occasions about the bond she maintains with the actor and has not spared praise for him. In an interview with the aforementioned magazine, she even described him as "the best ex-husband a girl could have."
The designer also explained that the relationship between Maguire and her current husband is excellent. "Geoff likes him and he likes Geoff," she commented, convinced that the good connection between them facilitates family life. She also highlighted her ex-husband's involvement as a father and the affection he continues to show their children.
The wedding brought together a group of guests that made the celebration a prominent event on the American social calendar. This spring, their first child together was born, whose arrival the designer made public last June.
