Fans of Greek Panathinaikos mourn the death of English footballer George Baldock, whose lifeless body was found on Wednesday at his home in Athens, as reported by Efe.

The lifeless body of the 31-year-old defender was found in the pool of his home, located in the Glifada neighborhood of the Greek capital, according to the same source.

According to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, his wife had been trying to reach him by phone from the UK since noon on Wednesday, with no success. Finally, she called the homeowner, who arrived at the house that same night and found Baldock dead in the pool.

"We are shocked, we are in shock over the loss of our George. The Panathinaikos family mourns his death," the Athens club stated.

Born in Buckingham, England, Baldock was an international player for the Greek national team, as one of his grandparents was Greek, giving him the right to wear the shirt of this country.

He began his career in the youth teams of Milton Keyne Dons and played for English club Sheffield United from 2017 until last May when he was signed by Panathinaikos.
