The motocross race Mammoth Mountain MX, which was taking place this weekend in California, has ended in tragedy after the death of Aidan Zingg, a promising American rider only 16 years old. The young rider had an accident during the race and was hit by several motorcycles, according to the specialized news portal 'DirtbikeLover'.
Zingg fell off his bike in a curve and was run over by other competitors, remaining unconscious on the ground without receiving assistance for two laps of the race. After that distressing time, the judges decided to stop the competition, but nothing could be done for the injured rider, who was participating in the event after receiving an invitation.
The American won the AMA Amateur National Championship in the Supermini 2 category in 2024. This year, he had turned professional and was riding for the Kawasaki Team Green. His intention was to move up to the 250cc category next year.
Several media outlets and specialized journalists have expressed their deep sorrow for Zingg's death. "He suffered fatal injuries. My heart goes out to the Zingg family. I can't even imagine what they are feeling. Rest in peace, friend," wrote reporter Donn Maeda on social media.
"With great sorrow, we report the passing of the young promise from Kawasaki, Aidan Zingg. Please keep the entire Zingg family in your thoughts and prayers. God bless you, Aidan Zingg 2009-2025," shared 'Racer X Illustrated'.
