Argentine folk singer and composer Luvi Torres has passed away at the age of 36, as confirmed by the National Institute of Music (INAMU), which shared a message on social media for her family and friends.

When diagnosed with cancer in 2023, Torres chose not to rely on conventional medicine and embarked on a process of "self-healing." According to Argentine media, last year she gave a talk stating that music and singing can heal and that she had cured her illness without any medical treatment or intervention.

According to her, the self-healing process included the use of conscious singing, meditation, shamanism, and deep emotional work, a method she called "Cantar Sana." However, as expected, the cancer increased in aggressiveness.

INAMU, upon confirming her passing, highlighted the value of her legacy in Argentine folklore, as well as her commitment to using art for social transformation.

Born in Buenos Aires, Lucía Victoria Torres developed her music by blending ancestral singing, folklore, rock, and pop, as reported by La Nación. She also played various instruments such as the bombo legüero, caja chayera, guitar, and bichito cordobés, very characteristic in her different songs.

Rhythms like zambas, chacareras, and bagualas were part of her repertoire. In her work, she conveyed her commitment to environmental care and spirituality related to the ancestral and the contemporary.

Her musical repertoire includes albums like "Ser el agua" and "Uoaei," in addition to the EP "Transelementes" and several singles.
