American singer Connie Francis, the first female soloist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her song 'Everybody's Somebody's Fool', released in 1960, passed away last night at the age of 87 for reasons that have not yet been disclosed, reports EFE.

The death of the author of the song 'Pretty Little Baby', which recently gained popularity due to its massive use on the TikTok platform, was announced on Facebook by her publicist, Ron Roberts, without revealing the reasons or the place of her death.

The singer, who resided in the state of Florida, had reported on July 2 on Facebook about her hospitalization due to "extreme pain", after experiencing strong hip pains days earlier that forced her to use a wheelchair.

Although initially admitted to the intensive care unit, Francis announced on the same day that she had been transferred to a private room. It is unknown if she was discharged later on.

Other major hits by Francis were 'My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own' in 1960, and 'Don't Break the Heart That Loves You' in 1962. Both reached the number one spot on the Billboard charts.

The recent popularity of 'Pretty Little Baby' led to the song being re-released as a single six decades after its original release. The song reached number 13 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart on May 31.
