Updated

In the 80s, Stephanie Zimbalist (69) became one of the most well-known faces on television by portraying private investigator Laura Holt in the seriesRemington Steele (1982-1987). Her partner in adventures was a still unknown Pierce Brosnan (72), who played Steele

At that time, she was a established actress belonging to the American showbiz royalty. Her father, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., was a renowned actor who gained popularity for the series 77 Sunset Street (1958-1964) and The F.B.I. (1965-1974).

The actress's paternal grandfather was the Russian Efrem Zimbalist Sr., a composer, orchestra conductor, and one of the world's top violinists; her paternal grandmother, Alma Gluck, of Romanian origin, was a renowned soprano who triumphed at the Metropolitan Opera House and one of the first recording artists, and her aunt was Marcia Davenport, screenwriter of the films The Valley of Decision (1945) and East Side, West Side (1949) and author of the definitive Mozart biography that has remained in circulation.

When asked if her father had influenced her in getting roles, in some of her early interviews, Stephanie highlighted: "I imagine it helped a bit, but not as much as people might think. I didn't even get involved in acting until I went to a summer camp when I was young." From that moment on, theater became one of her passions; she was not motivated at all to work in television.

Her dream was to perform in musicals and Shakespearean plays, so she enrolled at the prestigious New York school Juilliard, but her plans were derailed. At the end of the first year, her singing and acting teacher told her she wasn't cut out for it and informed her that she would not be renewed for a second year.

She debuted on television in a small role in the movie The Gathering (1977), followed by the miniseries Centennial (1978-1979), the chilling The Babysitter (1980), and other works with little impact until Remington Steele came along. In theater, her first notable role was in The Tempest (1979) alongside Anthony Hopkins (87), and in musicals, she stood out in My One and Only (1983).

Once she achieved stardom with Remington Steele, while Pierce Brosnan landed successful projects to become a star, Stephanie's name faded into obscurity. To cope with the lack of work, she found inner peace in water skiing and scuba diving, sports in which she has always excelled.

Her romantic relationships remain unknown, and the only verified information is that she has not had children. Currently, she lives in a small house in Los Angeles where she leads a quiet life, enjoys long walks in nature, meditates on the beach, and loves meeting friends for chats at some of the local bars. What she enjoys most is walking down the street without being recognized.
