The music world bids farewell to one of its most influential figures, Anthony Jackson, an innovative bassist and pioneer of the six-string bass, who has died at the age of 73. The news was confirmed through the official Fodera Guitars account, a manufacturer with whom the musician had a close collaboration since the 1980s. The cause of his death has not been revealed at this time.

In an emotional message, Fodera Guitars described Jackson as "one of the most visionary and influential bassists in the history of the instrument." They also highlighted his crucial role in the creation of the six-string electric bass, known as "contrabass guitar," which redefined the role of the bass in genres such as jazz, funk, and contemporary popular music.

"Anthony Jackson transformed the language of the bass. His legacy goes far beyond the notes he played," the company expressed.

Throughout his extensive career, Jackson was a sought-after session musician, working with some of the industry's biggest names since the 1970s. His talent can be heard on albums by Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, The Bee Gees, Diana Ross, Simon & Garfunkel, and on Madonna's debut record, among many others.

Several artists and colleagues publicly mourned his passing. Guitarist Al Di Meola wrote: "Anthony was one of the most extraordinary musicians I had the honor to play with. His sound, precision, and soul were incomparable. His genius on the six-string bass redefined modern music."

Pianist Michel Camilo, a close friend and frequent collaborator of Jackson, shared: "I am devastated by the loss of my dear friend Anthony Jackson. He was unique, a true genius and innovator. We shared years of unforgettable music and friendship. You will live forever in our hearts."

Jackson's passing leaves a void that is hard to fill in the world of electric bass and contemporary music. His technical approach and artistic vision continue to be a reference for musicians worldwide.
