The actor wore a striking black badge with the message "No to war" written in red, designed to look like a bloodstain, in a clear political statement to the international media.

In statements to Movistar+, Bardem strongly criticized the arguments often used to justify armed conflicts. "They are the same lies as 23 years ago. In 2003, it was about weapons of mass destruction, and now they talk about overthrowing a regime that only becomes more radical," the actor pointed out, drawing a parallel with the 2003 Iraq War.

The Oscar winner for 'No Country for Old Men' had already mentioned on the red carpet that he would take advantage of his presence on stage to deliver a message. "I believe you can be part of this circus and, at the same time, be a citizen. You should be able to do both things," he stated. Later, Bardem took the stage accompanied by actress Priyanka Chopra to present the award for Best International Film. There, he once again spoke clearly: "No to war and free Palestine," he declared to the audience. The actor also emphasized the power of cinema to unite cultures and sensitivities worldwide.
