Faced with the frequent idea crisis in Hollywood, producers find themselves in the dilemma of reviving old classics. In January 2027, a reboot -a reinterpretation of the character universe retaining only the basic elements- of Baywatch (1989-2001) will premiere, this time focusing on Hobie Buchannnon (originally played by Brandon Call in the original series), Mitch's son (David Hasselhoff).

However, this time, after Brandon left acting to start a family, the bigwigs have hired Stephen Amell, known worldwide for his role as the superhero in the series Arrow (2012-2020), to bring the same character to life.

The Toronto actor revealed to E! that filming was tougher than he thought because "running on the sand is difficult. I had to learn to hold my breath, something I thought I was already good at, but apparently not," and added that he struggled when he had to get into the icy ocean water, "but that's part of the job."

He also highlighted that not wearing "a superhero costume with padding for the chest, shoulders, or glutes, I had to get in shape by doing very intense exercises and following a strict diet. After all, I'm only in a swimsuit."

Sometimes his profession is so demanding that his relationship with loved ones suffers due to the time they can't spend with the actor, especially when they have children. From his second and current marriage to actress and model Cassandra Jean, he has two children, Mavi Alexandra, almost 13, and Bowen Auguste, 4. The couple first married in a ceremony in the Caribbean in Christmas 2012 and later in New Orleans in the spring of 2013.

Fatherhood not only simplified Stephen's life but also clarified the path to follow, as he stated in Life of Dad magazine: "It's much easier for me to strive because I know who I'm working for. The birth of my first daughter simplified my life a lot because from day one, she was the number one priority, until her brother arrived."

He has revealed on different occasions how skilled and intelligent his teenage daughter is because she has helped him prepare for some roles, as was the case with Suits: LA, the failed spin-off of Suits: the key to success, where Meghan Markle became famous. He also admits that his daughter handles herself very well on the red carpets and promises to support her if she wants to follow in his footsteps.

Stephen's beginnings in show business were motivated by the family's economic needs, as his mother took him and his sister to castings for advertising. Growing up in Toronto, he became a fan of competitive ice hockey, momentarily forgetting about pursuing a career as a model and actor, but the high school rugby coach encouraged him to give it a try. Currently, both sports are his favorite pastimes.

His official television debut was in 2004 in the American series Queer as Folk, where he played a spinning instructor for two episodes. That same year, he appeared in the Canadian series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He gained fame with Arrow.
