In Ibiza, everything is possible, especially in summer. There is nothing that cannot be found on the island during this time, whether it's beach bars serving caviar by the kilo or hotels where everything imaginable is within reach (for those who can afford it, of course). Luxury is perceived in many forms on this Mediterranean gem, which is gradually learning to live at a different pace, waking up earlier and proudly showcasing its beauty without the need to raise the volume.
Simplicity is the new object of desire, and the Nômade Temple hops on this trend, the new luxury hotel that has just opened in Portinatx, in the north of the island, a retreat that, without seeking attention, has what it takes to become the most coveted accommodation in Ibiza. The idea of this idyllic place is to reconnect with the essence of the island, with its original nature and beauty, with that free and unpredictable flow that has always marked its destiny.
The setting is there, and it also has the invaluable assistance of Don Chuy, a Mexican shaman who is part of the hotel team and silently roams the complex dressed in white with his hat. When a guest requests it, he performs the ritual to align physical, psychological, and astral strength and, in the process, ward off evil spirits. "I have worked in another hotel in Tulum," he explains calmly. Before the starters arrive at the table, he invites us to stand up and breathe consciously. He carries a wooden container and moves his arm as the smoke spreads through the air.
The rest of the diners discreetly observe the ritual. It barely lasts three minutes, but the energy of the island and this experience make for a different dinner. Just Ibiza things. There is still another plan before the day ends: looking up at the sky and witnessing a starry spectacle that adds to the list of wonderful memories one takes from this corner of the world.
The accommodation combines the bohemian aesthetics of the 60s and 70s with a contemporary sensibility.
The decor speaks of a fusion of cultures, with Mexican, Arab, and Mediterranean nuances. Materials like white stone, juniper wood, and handmade terracotta create cozy and charming spaces where colorful rugs and chairs of various shapes blend in perfectly. There is no ostentation, only harmony. The kind that catches the eye and eventually captivates all five senses.
Hidden among the rocks and integrated into the surroundings is the Spa Gong House of Healing, where the goal is to reconnect with oneself. Among its offerings, a wide selection of experiences and massages, from the classic relaxing massage to some of their aquatic therapies. Pure gold for body and mind. From there, one can head to 4Fu3Gos, one of the hotel's restaurants; a handful of tables on the beach sand with views —and access— to the cove and a menu based on fresh fish and seafood and delicious salads.
Another option is Tavla, focused on local and seasonal produce. Here, breakfast is also served, featuring local cold cuts, homemade pastries, and eggs prepared in various ways on the spot. The next stop is enjoyed by the pool, among loungers and striped umbrellas that give a hippie vibe to the atmosphere, with a DJ setting the mood and a good book in hand.
At Café Libre, we indulge in chai latte and matcha before the yoga class. The agenda always presents itself as a temptation of good plans. Dinner begins as the sun sets at Kuu Jû and its omakase bar. A gentle breeze blows, the moon is visible, and on the horizon, a couple of boats are anchored. This is Ibiza flowing peacefully.
