Our body is our temple, it must be loved and cared for. It's not just about extra weight or less; hormones and motherhood leave their mark, causing it to change from decade to decade. Getting ready for summer, but with the ultimate goal of not neglecting it when covered by clothes, doctors and aestheticians select their preferred treatments to effectively address the issues specific to each life stage.
The 20s, the Age of Firmness... with a Catch
Youth, a divine treasure of bodies with optimal levels of collagen and elastin, as noted by Silvia Oliete, founder of Blauceldona centers, where lack of firmness seems like it will never arrive. Yet, it is in these silhouettes that we would later remember as perfect where the first cellulite -almost 100% of women experience it- or the first stretch marks -up to 86% of young women- appear.
Oliete advocates treating both with the same protocol, using LPG Endermologie technology. The patented head combines massage and suction to improve blood and lymphatic circulation, as well as promoting the elimination of dead cells and collagen production, which improves scars (100 euros/session, 15 sessions recommended, twice a week).
Breasts and Postpartum Focus at 30
Doctor Beatriz Beltrán (with a clinic in Barcelona, specializing in internal medicine, aesthetics, and nutrition) succinctly summarizes three issues the body faces in the thirties: "Loss of tone, localized fat, and stretch marks." This is because it is the most common decade for pregnancies and also, surprisingly early, when aging begins.
To combat localized fat in hips and thighs, common areas in the thirties, Dr. Beltrán recommends medical cryolipolysis, a non-surgical, safe, and effective procedure with long-term results involving controlled freezing in a single session. "It involves applying cooling that affects the fat cells under the skin until they crystallize and die. The body naturally eliminates them, providing a more defined figure," she explains (1,500 euros).
To address abdominal sagging and strengthen muscles, especially after pregnancies, the doctor suggests treatments using devices like Emsculpt or Emsella. These protocols combine electrostimulation and radiofrequency to improve muscle tone and reduce abdominal diastasis. Five to 10 sessions are recommended (150 euros each).
Another area not to neglect, closely related to pregnancies and breastfeeding, is highlighted by esthetician Carmen Navarro:the chest. Susceptible to drastic volume changes, it loses firmness. The expert suggests regenerating and toning with Zionic, a technology known as the "remodeling jellyfish." Its shape resembles tentacles, which are actually "rollers used for active rotating massage combined with radiofrequency to improve skin condition, lift, and reshape," Navarro explains (six sessions, twice a week, 135 euros each).
The 40s, When Sagging Takes Over
The changes the body undergoes in the forties are marked by hormonal changes and the slowing down of collagen production in the body. "Hence the sagging, loss of tone, advanced cellulite, and fat resistant to typical diets," detail doctors Mar Mira and Sofía del Cueto (aesthetic physicians at Clínica Mira+Cueto). In response, nothing beats the comprehensive treatment of Body Ultherapy, "focused and selective high-precision ultrasound to produce controlled heat in specific skin areas to achieve dermal retraction and zone compaction," they explain. The protein coagulation micro-points induce deep tissue regeneration, resulting in new collagen and elastin formation, hence increased firmness, in a single session with effects lasting up to two years.
Goodbye, Waistline at 50
Menopause and its preceding stages lead to what esthetician Silvia Oliete calls a "masculinization of the silhouette," resulting in fat accumulation in flanks and abdomen, even in women who had a defined waistline until their fifties. For those preferring a manual solution, Renata França Method lymphatic drainage (120 euros) is Oliete's favorite for "a combination of massage techniques that work on cellulite, reduce volume, and strengthen skin and subcutaneous tissues for overall remodeling," she notes.
Carmen Navarro, on the other hand, opts for Tanit technology, combining laser and infrared to stimulate blood microcirculation and activate cellular metabolism for drainage, firming, and remodeling (150 euros).
From 60 Onwards, Comprehensive Care
According to Dr. Beatriz Beltrán, common issues at this age include "very thin skin, significant loss of elasticity, dehydration, and spots." She prefers comprehensive care combining bio-stimulation with polylactic acid injections to increase collagen production in legs, abdomen, and arms, the main areas, along with radiofrequency or tightening lasers. The result? Deep hydration, improved skin texture, and restored elasticity (800 euros per area).
And an Extra, Pre-Summer Cosmetics: Retinol, Acids... and a Healthy Tan
We don't expect a cosmetic to perform Harry Potter-like magic, but a little help to overcome pale nakedness reflected in the mirror when trying on the first bikini of the season would be appreciated. That blinding reflection could use a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses like those worn by the vampires in the '90s ad to survive the sun... Or, alternatively, a modern self-tanner with adjustable formulas to avoid an orange Trump look and achieve a healthy tan. Cosmetic advancements in body care are not limited to this.
The most sought-after assets of 2025 are usual suspects in facial products that go down to the silhouette: retinol, which "treats sagging and rough skin," confirm the aesthetic doctors Mar Mira and Sofía Ruiz del Cueto, and alpha hydroxy acids, "mild chemical exfoliants because they remove dead cells without the need for friction," points out Estefanía Ferrer, creator of Lico. That's the magic the body needs, not the one from Hogwarts.
