The most tattooed woman who stole the show from Rishi Sunak

Updated

Becky Holt is the most tattooed woman in the UK, with 'body art' covering 95% of her body. She was interviewed on ITV on the eve of the elections before the then Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who didn't know where to look

For Becky Holt, who didn't disclose who she was going to vote for, it was nevertheless the definitive leap to fame, surpassing 155,000 followers on her Instagram account, now featuring her very popular farewell photo with Sunak. Offers as an alternative model have poured in since then, and her unique story has been fodder for tabloids.

Becky has spent around 45,000 euros on tattoos, or so she estimates, since she started at 15. She lied about her age to tattoo her teenage boyfriend's name on her groin, and her mother was shocked when she found out one day while doing laundry in her underwear.

But she continued with her passion, fueled by the magazine Bizarre, dreaming of emulating her heroines of body modification. "I had a very rebellious character," she recalls in confessions to The Daily Mail. "I got a new tattoo every month, it was my way of dealing with my problems. They almost always had a message, like the bird I tattooed around my stomach that made me feel powerful."

Until she was 22, she opted for non-visible places, but shortly after, tattoos appeared on her arms and legs, hands and feet. The longest one was a design starting from her chest that goes up her throat and winds like a vine to the left side of her forehead, just above her eye.

The pain stopped mattering to her at a certain point, although she acknowledges having had "horrible" experiences, like when she tattooed her armpits and vulva: "It took three sessions, one to outline the design, another to finish it, and another to color it." The most intense period was between 2014 and 2018 when she even ran her own tattoo shop. Later, her daughter Aurora was born, and her fame on social media led her to be sponsored by several tattoo artists, who now have a hard time finding an intact square inch of skin.

"My dream has always been to be completely covered in tattoos," she confesses. "There is one place where I would never get them: my eyeballs, it's quite dangerous... People make fun of me, especially on social media, and there are places where I haven't been allowed to enter because of my appearance. But I don't mind, it was my choice. And neither does my current boyfriend, even though he doesn't have a single tattoo."
