Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski stated on Thursday that he will not accept any agreement on Ukraine that does not involve his country in the talks. In his first comments to journalists since U.S. President Donald Trump held individual calls with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and then with him, Zelenski emphasized the importance of "not allowing everything to go according to Putin's plan."
"As an independent country, we cannot accept any agreement made without us. I say very clearly to our partners: we will not accept any bilateral negotiation on Ukraine, not on other topics, but any bilateral conversation on Ukraine without us, we will not accept," Zelenski declared while visiting a nuclear plant in western Ukraine.
Orbán Mocks EU's Declaration of Support for Ukraine
Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán described the recent statement on Ukraine by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, and six major European countries as a "sad testimony" of poor EU leadership.
"This statement is a sad testimony of Brussels' poor leadership. While President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin negotiate peace, EU officials issue worthless statements," Orbán stated on social media.
Orbán referred to a post by Kallas on the Weimar Declaration, issued by Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, and the UK, expressing readiness to increase support for Ukraine and their common goal to support the country until a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace is achieved, respecting its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
