On the 1167th day of the war in Ukraine, Russian anti-aircraft defense units destroyed four Ukrainian drones flying towards Moscow, with no injuries or damage reported from the debris, said Moscow's mayor, Sergei Sobyanin.
In addition, 17 drones were destroyed over the Bryansk region bordering Ukraine, and five over the Kaluga region northeast of Moscow, as reported by the ministry. No injuries or damages were recorded.
Flights at Domodedovo airport, a key airport serving Moscow, were interrupted for an hour and a half during the night to ensure airspace security.
The attack comes a few days before the military parade on Red Square, attended by international figures such as the presidents of China, Xi Jinping, and Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as part of the commemorations of the end of World War II.
On that day, May 9, a message is expected from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has declared a ceasefire from May 8 to 10, marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union and its allies' victory in WWII. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described Putin's initiative as "theatrical" and emphasized the need for a ceasefire of at least 30 days.
Meanwhile, Russia has launched 2 ballistic missiles and 116 drones towards Ukrainian territory since last night, including attack drones and replicas. The two ballistic missiles were aimed at the northeastern Sumy region and could not be intercepted. The Sumy and Donetsk regions suffered damage.
An American Patriot air defense system will be transferred to Ukrainian forces, and Western allies are willing to facilitate the delivery of a similar system from Europe.
Russian Attacks on the Front Reach 2025 Peak Levels
According to the Ukrainian war analysis platform DeepState, 42% of the attacks launched by Russia across the front last week were concentrated in the Pokrovsk area.
After hitting a low this year in mid-April, the number of Russian attacks across the front reached its peak levels of 2025 last week, as shown by a graph provided by DeepState.
The number of Russian assaults across the front exceeded 250 attacks last Saturday and Sunday, a level reached only twice this year.
Russia continues to slowly gain ground despite the high number of casualties and equipment losses it faces daily.
Russia Strengthens Operations in the Pokrovsk Front and Intensifies Offensive
Russia has reinforced its operations in the Pokrovsk front in eastern Ukraine with the deployment of additional troops, allowing the Kremlin's Army to intensify its offensive in that segment of the contact line.
"The enemy's Central Operational Group in the Pokrovsk area has recently received reinforcements, likely infantry units from the Kursk area or the reserve," reads the latest bulletin on the course of the war from the Center for Defense Strategies in Kyiv.
Russia has managed to expel almost all Ukrainian forces that occupied part of the territory of the Kursk region - in the Russian Federation and bordering Ukraine - in recent weeks, enabling Moscow to send some of the troops fighting there to other front segments.
According to Monday's report from the General Staff, a total of 269 attacks occurred across the front on Sunday. Only in the Pokrovsk axis - in the eastern Donetsk region - did Ukrainian troops reportedly repel 115 Russian assaults.
Social Democrat Boris Pistorius to Remain Germany's Defense Minister
Outgoing German Defense Minister, Social Democrat Boris Pistorius, known for his strong support for Ukraine against Russia, will remain in his position in the new government taking office tomorrow, announced his party today.
Boris Pistorius will oversee an unprecedented German rearmament program worth several hundred billion euros, aimed at militarily independent from the United States, following the strategic withdrawal in Europe initiated by the administration of US President Donald Trump.
Boris Pistorius retains his ministry after becoming Germany's most popular political figure, a country long pacifist and distrustful of its Armed Forces.
Additionally, the conservative Christian Democratic (CDU) and Christian Social (CSU) parties will have ten ministers in the new government, including the Foreign Minister, to be led by Johann Wadephul, another staunch supporter of Ukraine.

Last Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a three-day ceasefire for the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II, when the Kremlin will gather in Moscow around twenty heads of state and government.
