Donald Trump continues to revolutionize the United States. This time, the president wants to overhaul the US energy model, for which he has signed several decrees to boost nuclear energy production, speeding up the issuance of new licenses for nuclear plant implementation, and reducing the necessary requirements and legislation, as reported by Europa Press.

"Today we are signing important executive orders that will make us the true power of this industry, which is a great industry," said the American president during the decree signing in the Oval Office.

Among the measures in the decrees are the "streamlining of environmental reviews," the adoption of "scientifically based radiation limits" considering current models as "flawed," or strictly limiting the request for changes when a nuclear reactor is under construction.

In this regard, the Trump Administration aims to establish a "lasting dominance of the United States in the global nuclear energy market" that can "free the United States from dependence on geopolitical rivals."

Deregulation and a focus on strategic autonomy guide the various orders, which also emphasize research through the promotion of new nuclear reactors and the integration of advanced technologies into energy production in the country.

They also advocate for a restructuring of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the state agency responsible for overseeing nuclear activities, under the scrutiny of the Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE), which will lead to reducing its staff "to a minimum."

Donald Trump has cited France as an example of nuclear energy production policy. "France has done a good job at this for years," stated the White House occupant.
