"President Trump has realized that Putin lied to him when he told him over the phone that he was ready for peace," declared Emmanuel Macron during a stop in Hanoi amid his Asian tour. "I hope Trump's anger translates into actions," added the French president.
"Our priority now is to give Putin a deadline for a ceasefire, so that everyone can verify if he is lying," Macron emphasized. "Beyond this deadline, there must be massive retaliation in the form of sanctions."
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that Putin was "crazy" and showed his distrust towards the Russian leader after having believed on previous occasions his willingness to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
The bombings in Ukraine on Sunday left at least 12 dead and 79 injured, after Russia launched hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles on the last day of the exchange process of 1,000 prisoners from each side agreed last week in Istanbul, reports Efe.
Russia also launched during the night and early morning the third consecutive massive attack against Ukraine, using nine Kh-101 cruise missiles and 355 drones, including attack drones and replicas used by the Russians to confuse the enemy, according to Monday's report from the Ukrainian Air Force.
