One person died and at least 12 others were injured in a mass shooting during a party at a residence in western North Carolina, as reported by AP based on police statements.

The shooting took place around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday in Hickory, a city in Catawba County, as indicated by the local police.

One victim is in critical condition and 10 others are in serious condition at the hospital, according to the police. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Hickory Police Department are conducting an investigation. The FBI is also assisting. No arrests have been made and the number of shots fired is still unknown.

The Police Department has not disclosed the names or ages of the victims, but stated in a press conference that the street is usually quiet.
